  • 5th Annual “Why I am Pro-Life” Essay Contest “Be a Voice for the Voiceless”
    Thursday, February 20, 2020 to Thursday, April 30, 2020
    Due to the Corona virus outbreak and mandatory school closings, we are extending the deadline to receive the essays. Winners will be announced as soon as we get all essays.

     5th Annual “Why I am Pro-Life” Essay Contest “Be a Voice for the Voiceless”

    Write a pro-life essay to win cash prize

    First Place $100

    Second Place $50

    Third Place $25

    • Essay shall be:
    • 200-400 words in length for grades 4-6
    • 300-500 words in length for grades 7-9
    • 500-750 words in length for grades 10-12
    • Essays must be double spaced and pages numbered
    • If typed, the font size no less than 12 pt
    • Essay must include a cover page with name, address, phone number, parent’s phone number, grade and word count.
    • By submitting an entry the contestant and parent agree:
    • A. to allow us to reprint the essays
    • Essay should be submitted between February 20 – March 20, 2020

    B. that the essay is original, but not copyrighted.
    • Submit by March 20, 2020 by email to [email protected] put in subject line “2020 Essay Contest” or mail to Van Tassel Funeral Home, 337 Belleville Ave, Bloomfield, NJ 07003
    • Winners will be announced on March 25, 2020, The International Day of the Unborn Child.

  • Annual Pet Memorial Day
    Sunday, September 13, 2020 : 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
    Always on a second Sunday of September Van Tassel Funeral Home celebrates National Pet Memorial Day. Pets are a part of our family and we want to assist you in expressing love, accepting their grief and remembering these family members in a meaningful way. Please join us to celebrate and honor our pets by painting a rock with their name that will become a permanent part of our garden. Please bring the picture of your pet. Light refreshment.
