    • Children’s Grief Awareness Day
      Thursday, November 17, 2016

In honor of Children’s Grief Awareness Day and in support of the children of our community, the Van Tassel Funeral Home invites all families with children who have experienced a loss such as a neighbor, family member, or friend to join us on November 17, 2016 from 6-7PM. Children will create a special heart to remember their loved one which they may choose to display at the funeral home. Each child will also receive a teddy bear to have something soft to keep and hold onto. Van Tassel Funeral Home recognizes that the needs of children experiencing a loss are unique. To meet these unique needs, we would like to announce that we have teamed up with a certified child life specialist Angie Koeneker to create a preparation program for bereaved children as a part of our holistic care approach provided to all grieving families. Children and families can use this specially designed program to help children understand what happens at a viewing or funeral and to participate in activities to remember their loved one.
