Greta Krantz, 96 of Bloomfield, passed away on September 18, 2014. Greta was a long time resident in Bloomfield NJ, having held a position originally as a loan officer at the National Newark Essex Bank. She then moved on to the position of Director of Finance of the Bloomfield Public Library. She was a woman ahead of her time, taking strides to drive before most woman dared to, keeping a professional independent life, enjoying socializing with a long standing book club (THE FORTNIGHTLY) of over 30 years, and was a member of the Traveling Friends. Greta brought great joy and pleasure to all whom she met, never forgetting to say a thank you, give smile to all and ensuring the welfare of those around her. Her love of the written word was embraced as she edited the manuscript for her companion, Howard Vogt whose published work; FLAGSTAD: Singer of the Century was published in 1987. Greta was a long time faithful member of Old First Church in Newark, and was a trustee until the age of 90. She is survived by Cousin Robert E. Carlson, MD, and his children: Lorin Carlson Healy and Christine Dewitt, Cousin Gunhild Carlson, and her children: Rodger, Donald and Paul Carlson, second Cousins Lois, Anne and Joan, along with many grand nieces and nephews; David Carlson, Alyssa Carlson-Kazanjian, Olivia Jill Healy, Julie and Lindsay Dewitt, Lisa Dickerson and Karen Leiblein. Graveside service will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM, Rosedale Cemetery, 408 Orange Rd. Montclair, NJ 07042
