Pamela Atkins

Pamela Atkins, 95 of West Orange, NJ, passed away surrounded by her loving family on November 25, 2021. Pamela is survived by her beloved daughter Cathy Ann Wilcox (David) Madairy of Charlotte, North Carolina and her two sons, John Michael (Lauren) Bingham of Depoe Bay, Oregon and Robert Conover (Shirlene) Wilcox of Hamden, Connecticut, four grandchildren Mala Bingham (Casey) Champion, Abigail Deborah Wilcox, David Wilcox Madairy and Steven James Brydie, great-grandson Caden James Champion and great-granddaughter Zaria Charlotte Brydie. Pamela was predeceased by her husband Carl Edward Atkins and parents Donald and Janet Parsons of Montclair, NJ. She was also predeceased by her husbands James A. Bingham and Richard Conover Wilcox and her long-time companion Robert G. Champney. Before retiring, Pamela worked as an Administrative Assistant for Ernst & Young in New York City for 21 years. Pamela was actively involved with St James Church in Upper Montclair, singing in the choir for 47 years until the age of 87 and served as a lector and on various committees, including Outreach and Membership. Over the years she enjoyed all things musical, singing at the Berkshire Choral Festival, going to concerts, Broadway musicals or the opera. Pamela also loved painting and was involved with the Montclair Art Museum and Bloomfield Art League. She loved traveling and swimming. She lived life with her whole heart and appreciated every little aspect of life, like walking on the beach or the smell of honeysuckle. She found joy in everything around her and would light up with a smile. She was so happy to have reached her 95th birthday and to have her family with her to celebrate. Pamela graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine in 1945 and attended Syracuse University and Columbia Presbyterian School of Nursing. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St James Music Fund, St James Episcopal Church, Upper Montclair, NJ. Visitation will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Van Tassel Funeral Home, 337 Belleville Ave, Bloomfield, NJ 07003. Funeral Service, December 3, 10:00 AM, St. James Episcopal Church, Upper Montclair, NJ. followed by Interment at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Montclair, NJ.
